About:

Students and student athletes at West Islip’s Oquenock Elementary School spent the holiday season raising $1,092 for the John Theissen Children’s Foundation. The school’s fifth-graders organized the fundraiser by selling scented pencils during lunch. They also sold snowflakes that they personalized with students’ names and then used to decorate the hallways.

Theissen paid a visit to Oquenock and explained to the students that the money they had raised for the charity would be used to buy holiday gifts for sick children across Long Island.
